FAD OR SCIENCE? #8: PALEO DIET – The Paleo Diet attempts to model the human diet of the prehistoric Stone Age or Paleolithic Era when humans used only stone tools and ate mostly plant foods and some meat and fish. The era lasted 3.4 million years ending around 5,000 years ago when humans made metal tools. Humans shared the Earth during the Stone Age with Neanderthals and other pre-human ancestors. This diet limits carbohydrates, dairy, beans, and sugar, and emphasizes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. The meats most people eat today are not the same as the meats and organs from the wild animals eaten in the Stone Age and most people find the diet too limited. This diet was most popular around 2013 as shown on the slide and has since faded away. So it is truly a Fad Diet and not a lasting trend. In any case, the Stone Age was not that great with a lifespan of only 40 years!! Instead, I recommend Balanced Nutrition and a Healthy Active Lifestyle that you can maintain and get your Best Personal Shape!! Next time, I will talk about the Nightshade Fad!! So stay tuned!!
